Gilmore & Roberts @ The Convent, South Woodchester (15.05.15)

Appearing at The Convent (near Stroud) on Friday 15th May are:

Contemporary folk/acoustic duo Gilmore & Roberts, who combine award-winning songwriting with astounding lap-tapping guitar, fiery fiddle and their trademark harmonies, creating a powerful wall of sound.

Their third album:

‘The Innocent Left’ was recorded in London with producer Julian Simmons (Guillemots, Ed Sheeran, Albert Lee).

You know those BBC Folk Awards that are always mentioned in articles like these?

Well, Gilmore & Roberts have been nominated twice. Maybe it’ll be third time lucky next year and they’ll bring home the bacon (and by bacon I mean a trophy).

Accolades for ‘The Innocent Left’ album include:

A ‘Best Duo’ nomination at both the 2013 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and 2013 Spiral Earth Awards, a ‘Song of the Year’ FATEA Award and first prize in the Acoustic/Folk category of the UK Songwriting Contest (both for ‘Doctor James’).

Gilmore and Roberts 2012fullWasn’t that a song by Aqua?

No, that was ‘Doctor Jones.’

The press say:

“Gilmore and Roberts take English folk and scuff it up with indie rock drama” – Q magazine.

And as if to prove their versatility:

In 2014 Gilmore & Roberts took part in a collaborative project for the centenary of the First World War. The ‘Songs For The Voiceless’ album also featured Bella Hardy, The Young Uns and Bellowhead.
